Here I am again with my bag full of flutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I already introduced this instrument here a while ago. It is a hexagon shaped flute in D major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just like whistles it doesn\u2019t have a thumb hole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unlike whistles this one does not overblow into the upper octave. You can play any melody on it as long as you stay within one octave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Improvising a short dance-like tune.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And just to confuse everybody, this was a tune in G major. Because that\u2019s another scale that you can play (partly) on this instrument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now. The instrument I wanted to concentrate on in this video is not this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Looks pretty similar. The colour is the same, it has this wonderful pinkish golden orange colour that looks really, really interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has one round hole here. It has two caps, one on each side and it also has two labiums. Now, why is that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taking off one cap, open it. We have six holes here and no hole on the other side, just like the other one. And it\u2019s in D major as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, what\u2019s behind that other cap?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Don\u2019t worry! You don\u2019t need a second pair of hands, because the other side doesn\u2019t have holes \u2013 it\u2019s a drone pipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s a drone in D major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
