I always type them up myself (and translate them myself) and, watching a video the other day where the automatic caption talked about the \u201eC goat\u201c and the \u201eseagull\u201c instead of \u201eSigo\u201c, I\u2019m even more convinced that I will continue putting in the additional work. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(F\u00fcr die deutsche \u00dcbersetzung bitte <a href=\"#deutsch\">hier klicken<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Playing the lullaby \u201eBonny at morn\u201c]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hello and welcome to today\u2019s video!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About four weeks ago this new recorder arrived at my house.<br>It\u2019s an F bass made by the Kunath group and it\u2019s from the Sigo family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You might have heard the name Sigo before, because last year I introduced my Sigo tenor, and you can see, it is one family indeed!<br>They look like they were made of plastic, but they\u2019re in fact not.<br>The body is made of Resona which is a material made from wood, starch and, I don\u2019t know,probably other ingredients, and the bodies of these recorders are 3D printed and the heads are injection moulded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, you can rinse them with water, actually, if you need to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the Sigo comes in black, obviously, and you can change this ring here. It also comes in other colours, for example green, or yellow, or pink, so we have ten colours that we can use. One of these ten is black, by the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the back, we have an adjustable thumb rest and we have the bell hole that\u2019s on the back of the instrument just like with the tenor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And you don\u2019t really have to stretch your fingers far, it\u2019s a bit like playing an alto or even almost a soprano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the lowest notes we have a double key here and it\u2019s really nice and comfortable because for the f we only need to press that one key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Playing the lowest note of the instrument, the f]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the f sharp, you press the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Playing f sharp and then g]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the rest is just like you know it and the fingering is actually just like an alto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, for example, the e flat is also done like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Playing b flat, c, d, e flat, f, g, and back]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, many basses have fingering for the e flat like this, but this one is like an alto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And it\u2019s extremely light compared to other F bass recorders. It weighs around 600 grams. My Thomann bass, the first bass I ever bought, has about 900 grams, and, obviously, size comparison, you can see it is quite a difference and the Thomann has additional keys here and here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And my wooden Mollenhauer weighs around 1100 grams, so that\u2019s even more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mollenhauer by the way also has a really, really nice key down here for the lowest note, the f. You also just press one of the two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Playing f, g, a, g, f]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And for the f sharp, you can just roll your finger<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Playing f, f sharp, g, f sharp, f]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And there you have it. So, that\u2019s also a very, very good solution which I personally find rather comfortable and nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, I don\u2019t want to go very deep into technical details. Kunath have published quite a few videos and other recorder players have published videos, too, so you can watch these if you\u2019re interested, but I wanted to make a short sound comparison for you so that you can listen to the recorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You might notice that the Thomann, like also my Thomann tenor, has a rather soft, almost woolly sound, whereas the Sigo has a really strong and vibrating sound and the Mollenhauer, yeah, the Mollenhauer is quite different again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m going to play an old folk song from Northern Germany, first on the Sigo, then on the Thomann, then back to the Sigo and then the Mollenhauer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Playing \u201eDat du min Leevsten b\u00fcst\u201c (You are my dearest)]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you would ask me which one I like best, to be honest, I couldn\u2019t even tell you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I bought the Thomann a while ago because I wondered whether the bass recorder would be something for me and I didn\u2019t want to spend hundreds of euros and then figure out, no, don\u2019t like it. And, but, ever since I have the Mollenhauer, I haven\u2019t touched the Thomann, so it sits in its bag and I took it out for today\u2019s video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think I\u2019m going to use both bass recorders regularly because they both have interesting individual sounds and possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One thing that I haven\u2019t mentioned yet: with the Sigo, well, for the Mollenhauer, if I have to play for a long time, I might use a neck strap to help me hold the instrument. With the Sigo so far I haven\u2019t found this necessary, because it\u2019s so light. Ich tippe diese ja immer per Hand und mache auch die \u00dcbersetzung selbst, und nachdem ich ein Video gesehen hatte, bei dem die automatische Untertitelung von \u201eC goats\u201c (C-Ziegen) und \u201eseagulls\u201c (Seem\u00f6wen) anstatt von \u201eSigo\u201c sprach, bin ich umso \u00fcberzeugter davon, dass es eine gute Idee ist, mir diese Extraarbeit zu machen \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Ich spiele das Wiegenlied \u201eBonny at morn\u201c]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hallo und willkommen zum heutige Video!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vor etwa vier Wochen kam diese neue Blockfl\u00f6te bei mir zuhause an. Es ist ein F Bass von Kunath, aus der Sigo Familie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ihr habt den Namen Sigo vielleicht schon einmal geh\u00f6rt, denn letztes Jahr habe ich meinen Sigo Tenor vorgestellt und Ihr seht, ja, die kommen aus einer Familie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Instrumente sehen aus, als seien sie aus Kunststoff oder Plastik, aber tats\u00e4chlich ist das nicht der Fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das Unterteil ist aus Resona, das ist ein Material aus Holz und St\u00e4rke, und, ich wei\u00df nicht, vermutlich weiteren Inhaltsstoffen, und die Unterteile dieses Blockfl\u00f6ten sind aus dem 3D Drucker. Die Kopfst\u00fccke sind Spritzguss. Man kann sie also mit Wasser aussp\u00fclen, wenn n\u00f6tig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Und die Sigo ist schwarz, wie man sieht, und dieser Ring hier l\u00e4sst sich tauschen. Insgesamt gibt es zehn verschiedene Farben, zum Beispiel gr\u00fcn, oder gelb, oder pink, und eine der zehn Farben ist \u00fcbrigens schwarz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Auf der R\u00fcckseite gibt es eine verstellbare Daumenst\u00fctze und au\u00dferdem das Schallloch, genau wie beim Tenor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Finger m\u00fcssen keine weiten Strecken \u00fcberwinden, es ist fast wie eine Altblockfl\u00f6te oder sogar ein Sopran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">F\u00fcr die tiefsten T\u00f6ne haben wir hier eine Doppelklappe und das ist wirklich sch\u00f6n und bequem, weil wir f\u00fcr das tiefe f nur die obere Klappe verwenden m\u00fcssen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Ich spiele den tiefsten Ton des Instruments, das f.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">F\u00fcr das fis verwenden wir die andere Klappe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Ich spiele das fis und dann das g.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Rest ist so, wie man es kennt und die Griffe sind tats\u00e4chlich wie bei der Altblockfl\u00f6te. Zum Beispiel wird das es so gegriffen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Ich spiele b, c, d, es, f, g und zur\u00fcck.]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Viele B\u00e4sse haben den Griff f\u00fcr das es so, aber dieser ist wie ein Alt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Und verglichen mit anderen Bassblockfl\u00f6ten ist diese sehr leicht. Sie wiegt etwa 600 Gramm. Mein Thomann Bass, die erste Bassblockfl\u00f6te, die ich je gekauft habe, wiegt eta 900 Gramm, und, Gr\u00f6\u00dfenvergleich, Ihr seht, es ist ein ziemlicher Unterschied. Der Thomann Bass hat zus\u00e4tzliche Klappen. Mein Mollenhauer Bass aus Holz wiegt etwa 1100 Gramm, das ist noch mehr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Mollenhauer hat \u00fcbrigens auch eine sehr, sehr sch\u00f6ne Klappe hier unten f\u00fcr die tiefste Note, das f. Man benutzt nur eine der beiden Klappen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Ich spiele f, g, a, g, f]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">F\u00fcr das fis kann man einfach den Finger nach oben rollen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Ich spiele f, fis, g, fis, f]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Und schon ist es da. Also, das ist auch eine sehr, sehr gute L\u00f6sung, die ich pers\u00f6nlich sehr bequem und sch\u00f6n finde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nun, ich m\u00f6chte nicht tief in die technischen Details gehen. Kunath hat einigeVideos ver\u00f6ffentlicht und andere Blockfl\u00f6tenspielerinnen ebenfalls. Ihr k\u00f6nnt diese anschauen, wenn Ihr Interesse habt. Aber ich wollte einen kurzen Klangvergleich machen, so dass Ihr die Blockfl\u00f6ten auch anh\u00f6ren k\u00f6nnt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vielleicht werdet Ihr feststellen, dass der Thomann Bass, ebenso wie mein Thomann Tenor, sehr weich und fast wollig klingt. Der Sigo Bass hingegen hat einen kr\u00e4ftigen, vibrierenden Klang und der Mollenhauer Bass ist nochmal ganz anders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ich spiele ein altes Volkslied aus Norddeutschland, erst mit dem Sigo Bass, dann Thomann, dann wieder Sigo und dann Mollenhauer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Ich spiele \u201eDat du min Leevsten b\u00fcst\u201c]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wenn Ihr mich fragen w\u00fcrdet, welches Instrument mir am besten gef\u00e4llt, k\u00f6nnte ich es ehrlicherweise gar nicht sagen. Ich hatte den Thomann Bass vor l\u00e4ngerer Zeit gekauft, weil ich mich gefragt hatte, ob eine Bassblockfl\u00f6te etwas f\u00fcr mich ist und ich wollte keine paar hundert Euro ausgeben um dann festzustellen, nee, das ist es nicht. Aber seit ich den Mollenhauer Bass habe, habe ich den Thomann Bass nicht mehr benutzt, also wohnt er in seiner Tasche, aber f\u00fcr das heutige Video habe ich ihn herausgeholt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ich denke, dass ich beide Bassblockfl\u00f6ten regelm\u00e4\u00dfig benutzen werde, weil sie beide einen interessanten individuellen Klang und entsprechende M\u00f6glichkeiten bieten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eine Sache, die ich noch nicht erw\u00e4hnt habe: wenn ich l\u00e4ngere Zeit meinen Mollenhauer Bass spiele, benutze ich einen Tragegurt, der mir hilft, das Instrument zu halten. Beim Sigo Bass finde ich das bisher nicht n\u00f6tig, weil er so leicht ist.
