New Year Resolutions

I don’t believe in New Year Resolutions. Most of the time, they don’t work anyway, and if you or I want to change something in our lives, we can make the decision to do so on any day of the year. The 23rd of April might be a good day, or the 7th of August.

Most people are reluctant to change. Still, change is possible within seconds – for example, when you fall in love. But to become a better / healthier / slimmer / fitter person usually takes time. So, if you plan to become better / healthier / slimmer / fitter in 2012, do one step at a time. If you have a big pile of debris to clear away, don’t try to make it vanish in one go. It will go away eventually when you just clear a little bit every day.

You could „try something new for 30 days” for a start:

I’m still within my 30 days, and so far it’s looking good. What I do is to make sure I do some extra exercise every day. Not the major two-hour-run (I don’t run anyway, I’m more into walking or cycling), small steps make the difference.

Oh, and by the way, for those of you who’re into losing weight. Read Mimi Spencer’s „101 things to do before you diet”. It’s very inspiring.

Have a good start into 2012!
